BUPA is one of the largest health insurance groups globally. It has a strong presence in Hong Kong as both an insurer and provider of care through their clinical service arm – QHMS.
The client engaged Asia Care Group to undertake an assessment of the potential application and impact that transparency could have on the healthcare system in HK. Specifically, they wanted to understand the impact that transparency of data reporting on quality, performance, finance and patient experience could have on the functioning of the health system.
WHAT WE DID
Completed a thorough review of the current availability of healthcare data within both the public and private sectors in Hong Kong, including demographic and epidemiological data, access, quality and pricing data and utilisation data.
Undertook scenario and impact modelling to assess the clinical and economic gains that could be made by improving healthcare transparency.
Analysed the data that would be needed to assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of models of care, including an international best practice review.
