Emma is a Senior Consultant at Asia Care Group, where she focuses on operational healthcare consulting involving major change. Prior to joining ACG, Emma worked under the NHS Graduate Management Scheme; the UK’s fast-track leadership scheme aimed at cultivating tomorrow’s healthcare Directors and CEO’s. She led a number of complex projects in both hospital, commissioning and system management settings, with a common theme of enacting new policy, strategy, and system transformation
Recently, Emma has project managed the set up and delivery of the second wave of the UK’s “National Test Beds Programme”. This brings together SMEs offering market-ready digital solutions with NHS organisations across the country, and creates, reviews and evolves the learning from pilot sites. Emma had primary responsibility for selecting digital technologies with the potential for spread and scale within the NHS and selecting NHS organisations with the ability to test these innovations. This speaks to Emma’s passion for innovation, and the need to trail and adopt new practices in pursuit of better health outcomes. She also worked for one of the largest hospitals in the UK on their service transformation and turnaround plan. This work – involving project management of significant cost-containment targets – required stakeholder buy-in across multiple sites, services and staff groups. It achieved Board and regulator sign-off and allowed the hospital to avoid being placed in special measures by regulators.
Emma developed her skills for consulting with a placement in KPMG’s Universal Health Coverage Team. She supported the Global Centre of Excellence to assess different paths to UHC and the current limitations and positives of these approaches. Emma undertook as an MSc in Health Policy from Imperial College London, and a BSc in Medical Genetics from the University of Leicester.
