HK Healthcare Market access support for the UK Government
The problem
UK Trade and Investment was the UK Government’s official vehicle for improving trade and investment between UK companies and overseas businesses and Governments. They had a priority focus on healthcare and were keen to improve partnership, trade and investment between the UK and HK in this sector.
Asia Care Group were commissioned to undertake a thorough market assessment in order to identify opportunities, market entry concerns or regulatory limitations. From this, ACG further advised priority focus areas and routes-to-market. Further, the client requested support to engage key Asia-based healthcare decision-makers and facilitate events/introductions to commercialise potential opportunities.
What we did
Desktop review of UKTI’s current healthcare pipeline and key service offerings in HK. Full market assessment of the changing healthcare environment, with definition of the risks, issues and opportunities created.
Delivery of c.20 1:1’s and 10 small group sessions with prospective Asian based partners to identify their current/future needs and assess opportunity areas/hard opportunities for UK companies to add strategic value and meet sector needs.
Sector mapping of opportunities across healthcare infrastructure, education and training and health service delivery. Quantification and prioritisation of these (value and feasibility). Appraisal of market-access concerns and competition landscape to further inform the go-to-market strategy for each opportunity, and how to approach these (buy, build, partner)
The result
Identification of over 800mil (GBP) of business opportunities for UK healthcare companies. Quantification/removal of unqualified opportunities from the HVO calculations to ensure better reporting of the true scale of opportunity
Development of a market study report, outlining opportunity categories, market sizing, regulatory or market access concerns and competition issues.
